One Broadway Collaborative presents: Kemp Harris and Adam Osgood - singin' the blues workshop

Blues Workshop featuring Kemp Harris and Adam Osgood Blue’s (not Grey’s) Anatomy, two parts (All levels) Somebody once said “Blues ain’t nothing but Gospel without Jesus in it”. In this workshop we will take on the construction of a 12 bar blues tune, and together, improvise and perform blues song. We’ll have a theme and participants can join in by writing and sharing a verse. Don’t think you’re a Blues singer? I can show you how to sing a blues tune using one note. Somebody else once said, “The Blues is three chords, one note….and truth”. Kemp Harris and Adam Osgood. Kemp Harris is a composer, musician, author, actor, and teacher. Born in North Carolina, he taught himself piano and was writing songs at age 14. His upcoming album, entitled Edenton, looks back to his roots and features the backing vocals of the Holmes Brothers. Kemp has shared the stage with Taj Mahal, Gil Scott-Heron, and Koko Taylor. He has written and performed original compositions in the U.S. and Europe for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and WGBH public television. Kemp currently maintains a songwriting residency at the Want Center for the Performing Arts in Boston in conjunction with Berklee College of Music, assisting talented young artists with composition and performance. Adam Osgood is a harp player and spoken word artist who draws his influences from Blues tradition and Beat Poetry. He is comfortable in genres ranging from Folk to Funk and has been a front, side and hype man collaborator of Kemp Harris for over thirty-five years.
