As a result of a continued investigation conducted by
Officer Salman Dar of the Lawrence Police Patrol Division a warrant was issued
for the arrest of Carlos Taveras of Lawrence. The original incident
which began Officer Dar’s investigation was a Breaking and Entering into
the home of Traveras’ estranged girlfriend. During the investigation she
informed Officer Dar that she believed her ex-boyfriend stole the keys to her
apartment. She stated that a number of items were missing from her apartment
including her spare apartment keys. Officer Dar told the victim to
arrange to stay with a relative until the property manager could arrange to
have her door locks changed. As Officer Dar was following up with
the victim she informed him that she was able to retrieve her spare apartment
keys from her estranged boyfriend, confirming that he was responsible for
stealing the keys.
