Chief Roy Vasque and Members of the Lawrence Police Department support the International Women’s Day Carnival Celebration, and the work of Delamano, which is a
non profit organization committed to domestic violence intervention and awareness programs for the Merrimack Valley area. Delamano operates an independent Spanish/English helpline and provides victims with access to emergency shelter, advocacy, support, counseling
and educational programs. It is our vision that through intervention & education we may eliminate domestic violence.
The protection and advocacy for victims of domestic violence remains a top priority for the Lawrence Police Department. In 2018 the LPD had a 98% clearance rate in
domestic violence cases compared to a 53% clearance rate nationally. This past year Mayor Rivera and Chief Vasque established the Police Community Relations unit to work with victims of domestic violence and missing and exploited children. Moving forward
the department is in the process of assigning a full-time detective to exclusively investigate domestic violence cases.
