 SUSPECT IN LAWRENCE HOMICIDE IN CUSTODY

 A 22-year old Amesbury man was arrested without incident yesterday in Manchester, NH for allegedly murdering a 48-year old Lynn man in Lawrence on Tuesday, June 18th.

 Niko Blanco is charged with the murder of Ellis J. Wright, who was found deceased in a parking lot near 85 Manchester Street in Lawrence on Wednesday morning.  

 Essex State Police detectives and Lawrence Police detectives, were assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and Manchester, NH police in locating and apprehending the suspect.  

 He will be arraigned in Manchester, NH on a fugitive from justice charge and returned to Lawrence District Court for arraignment on the murder charge.  The timing of the Lawrence arraignment depends upon whether the defendant waives rendition.  (It will not be today.) 

 Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett and Lawrence Police Chief Roy Vasque expressed their appreciation to the investigative team for apprehending the suspect quickly and without further danger to the public.  

 This matter remains under investigation so there will be no further comment.

 The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
