The City has an annual Hazardous Waste Recycling Program, which takes place in the spring and summer months. The purpose of this program is to allow for proper disposal of items considered to be "hazardous", and which cannot be disposed of in your regular trash or recycling. The City works with various vendors specialized in the proper handling and disposal of each hazardous item.
Hours of operation are 8:00AM to 12:00PM on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, from May to October, each year. During these times, residents of the City of Lawrence may bring their hazardous waste items to the DPW Operations Facility (DPW Yard) for proper cataloging and disposal.
The City’s DPW Yard is located at 1 Auburn Street, Lawrence, MA 01841. Unscheduled visits to the DPW Yard outside of these times is expressively prohibited.
Please note that the program is only open to residents, and proof of residency will be required for each person taking part in this program. Business establishments are not eligible to take part in this subsidized program.
